Artificial Intelligence
Intelligent machines learn how to learn
We often talk about Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the context of Industry 4.0, because it is AI that takes the automation of production and logistics processes to the next level. However, the areas of application go beyond industrial applications and so we already encounter AI in a wide range of areas of life, such as automatic face recognition in social networks, chat bots on websites, voice assistants on cell phones or the display of personalized online advertising
What exactly does an AI do? In conjunction with Big Data, AI offers the opportunity to recognize patterns from large amounts of data, learn from them and derive recommendations for action. This enables it to deal with new situations and make independent decisions based on the learned data, even in unfamiliar situations. Only the framework in which the AI develops and learns is determined by us. Deep learning, an AI method, has significantly influenced the development progress in recent years and has made face recognition possible in consumer applications such as Facebook and Google Photos.
But one principle still applies: an AI is only as good as the data it has been trained with.
